Inspirational stories from our students

“In my senior year everything felt so overwhelming; everything made me feel pressured somehow. Being selected as a valedictorian made me so anxious. I had these kinds of thoughts about who I am if I am not good at my studies. Will others love and appreciate me if I won’t perform excellently this year? Is my value set by my academic performance

Ethan

“I love my kids, and I appreciate every moment with them, but I feel so burned out. Keeping a balance between working, taking care of kids, and studying all at once is so difficult sometimes. These struggles make me question my role as a parent and decision to study. They made me experience a lot of anxiety and guilt

Mark

“I never felt good enough – not good enough at sports, not good enough academically, and that almost killed me! All of these made me get into a very depressive mood. I felt so hopeless and pessimistic about my future.”

Dan

“I was in a relationship on and off. This toxic relationship has influenced many domains of my life, especially my studies. I usually questioned my worth and abilities; my study habits changed drastically, and it felt like I was stuck in life…”

Rina

“I am Hana, a freshman in Undergraduate Studies for Medical Sciences, also a first generation student in my family. I have always had high expectations set to me by my family; even as a kid. This pressure to become financially able to help my family made me feel very stressed about my studies. I was constantly living my life with many “ifs”…

Hana

“When I first started college, it was my first time traveling and living alone in a completely different country and a metropolitan area much bigger than where I used to live in North Dakota I had responsibilities that I was never used to having: a lot of academic obligations, with no friends and family to comfort and help me…
